Dick Martin of “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In” passed away this weekend with his family beside him. The gag man of the bantering duo, Dick Martin created his own silliness, off the wall hypothetical views of life with a dry wit and bogus certainty.

After “Laugh-In” ended in 1973, Rowan and Martin continued headlining in high paying gigs around the country.  They went their separate ways in 1977, but remained close.

Martin changed careers to directing sitcoms and proved to be quite successful.  ”The Bob Newhart Show” was the first sitcom he directed. Martin felt he’d either sink or get eaten by the sharks. He swam obviously.
